What Was Willie Like As A Child...
This is definitely what Willie was like as a child...and also a pretty accurate depiction of what he's like as an adult.

Yussssss!!!!
Stereogum reports that PHOENIX will be performing "1901" and "Lisztomania" (both of which are so excellent and both of which you can stream HERE [or download "1901" below]) on SNL on April 4th, with Seth Rogan hosting. So so pumped for this. I've been saying for a bit that I don't get why these guys don't more recognition. Hopefully this will help.
KOL Stirring Up 'Bluesier' Songs For Next Album
Says NME...
"Kings Of Leon have revealed they are already writing the follow-up to 2008's 'Only By the Night' – oh, and they are moving in a bluesier direction. The Followills, who are currently touring Australia, told NME they are not sitting on their laurels, despite selling over three million copies worldwide of their fourth album. Frontman Caleb Followill did, however, admit that a dose of jet-lagged-fuelled super-flu has warped their new songs a little."

This Is The JAAAAMMMM!
I feel like I posted this last week, but I can't find the post. Check it and holleratchaboy.
I'm In Love With A Shooting Star
This is some starry-sky-spring-night-jam-type stuff. Wait at least till 2:41 for the disco-payoff.

New Lily Allen Video: "Not Fair"
Video for one of my favorites off of her new disc. It's about being a nice guy but unable to please your woman. Something I know nothing about. I'm sort of in the other camp. Your stereotypical 'bad boy' whose biggest flaw is probably that I please women too much.
April Release Calender
For those jonesing for some new music, a fairly thorough calender of album releases can be viewed HERE.

New Sam Sparro Album In August/September?
I was doing some artist Wiki-ing the other day because often times those pages are updated with more frequency than the bands' official sites. The only downside is that Wiki information is entirely unofficial and in some cases, like this one, unverifiable. But I'm rather easily excitable when it comes to new music, so I thought it worth bringing up anyway. The very last sentence of Sam Sparro's Wikipedia page reads "Sam will be releasing his second album on 31 August 2009" [presumably September 1 in America]. This is great news if you're me or if you like good music.

Vampire Weekend To Debut New Song On Jimmy Fallon Tomorrow Night (3.18.09)
I have yet to see an episode of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon as a replacement. Not because I don't like him or don't think he could ever fill Conan's shoes (I do like him, I don't think he could ever fill Conan's shoes), but just because I'm never up that late anymore. But I'll be watching tomorrow. P4k reports that Vampire Weekend is set to debut new song "White Sky" tomorrow night on Jimmy Fallon (although the song has been making the rounds in their live show since at least last spring). This publicity move (of playing an unreleased song in support of no particular album or tour) was most recently championed by Grizzly Bear when they appeared on Conan and Letterman playing "While You Wait For The Others" and "Two Weeks" respectively. Pretty excited.

New Voxtrot!!
The Austin five-piece throw a bit of a curveball with this one, following in the footsteps of YYYs and giving their particular brand of indie-pop a synthed-out-dance makeover. I like it better than 80% of the band's tepid full-length.

P.S. For those of you looking for clarification on the song's title...

New Calvin Harris Video: "I'm Not Alone"
The decidedly weird video for the decidedly awesome song. I'm nervous that this song is setting the bar impossibly high for the rest of the album.

The National and Grizzly Bear at Pfork Fest This Year?
MBV reports that Jesus Lizard, Grizzly Bear, and the National will be performing at the Pitchfork Music Festival this July. I had a feeling GBear would be making a Chicago music festival appearance, as the city was conspicuously absent from their summer tour schedule.

William Fitzsimmons video: "If You Would Come Back Home"
WF (a child of divorce [both parents were blind] and now himself divorced) has been around for a tic, this being from his third album. Like a sadder Iron & Wine.
Kanye's Storyteller Vids
You can watch most of the vids from Ye's Storyteller over HERE AT HIS BLOG. It's not really so much storytelling as it is uncomfortable directionless rambling. But this song is still so great.

Wolfmother Plan Their Return
The Sabbath/Zep aping (in a good way) Aussie Guitar Heroes are prepping their heavy-riffage return to y'all's ears. Get ready.
- “Frontman Andrew Stockdale has emerged from his self-built home studio and is due to head to LA to record the second Wolfmother album with producer Alan Moulder in April. Wolfmother stepped out earlier in February to play two shows in Brisbane and Sydney to roadtest the new material prior to recording. Billed as White Feather, the shows at the Valley Studios in Andrew’s hometown of Brisbane and The Oxford Arts Factory in Sydney sold out within minutes of word leaking online, and Wolfmother ripped through a set of old gold and new magic to those quick enough to be there.
Coming aboard for album two is esteemed producer Alan Moulder, universally admired for his groundbreaking work with Nine Inch Nails, Smashing Pumpkins, The Jesus & Mary Chain and My Bloody Valentine. After mixing a track Andrew had recorded at home for the upcoming Guitar Hero game, Moulder was enlisted to produce the whole record, which is due for release in the last quarter of 2009.
On the live front, Wolfmother will mark their return playing both the Melbourne and Sydney Sound Relief Benefit concerts scheduled to run simultaneously on March 14 and the Clipsal 500 motor racing event in Adelaide on March 22.”

Hold Steady Cover Bruce
This song is off the fairly lukewarm (but good cause) War Child comp Heroes. And while the compilation is a bit unimpressive, this song is truly a standout. Really great. The band puts a bit of punk urgency on the Boss' classic "Atlantic City," as well as replace Bruce's harmonica with huge horns. And the tone on the guitar in the horn/guitar duel (at the 2:47 mark) is just beautiful.
