disclosure : you & me ft. eliza doolittle (stream)
reminds me of something you could have heard on a jock jams mix back in the 90s. recommended if you like alunageorge.
lana del rey : young & beautiful (stream)
a new one, lana's contribution to the great gatsby soundtrack.

mgmt tease new single...
...with an excellently trippy video. if you liked oracular but didn't like congratulations, i have a feeling you might not really vibe with this new song/album.

so christopher owens, frontman of the now defunct band girls, released a solo album that was decent, but a little too flowery at times. he is re-releasing it in acoustic form (presumably just spanish guitar and vocals) for free tomorrow. listen to a track over at spin to see if that's something you're interested in.
Half way through mixing número seis. I'm getting that good old fashioned feeling, again. Just might have 2 play a few new tunes this summer.

mistaken for strangers (trailer)
this is a national mockumentary/documentary (i think). some of this narrative/drama seems constructed. looks interesting.

night beds : ramona (crypt sessions)
pretty #chill version here. but it took me almost the whole video to realize that this wasn't the full band, only singer/guitarist plus light drums. just goes to show how much weight that expressive buckley-esque voice can carry.

m83 : oblivion soundtrack (album stream)
for those that didn't know, m83 scored the new dystopian future tom cruise vehicle, oblivion. listen to it here. it's very good.
night beds : my kind of woman (mp3)
night beds (who released one of my favorite albums of the year) is giving away two free covers via aquarium drunkard. both lovely, but "my kind of woman" is the standout.
night beds :: my kind of woman (mac demarco cover)
night beds :: no other love (jo stafford cover)

sigur ros : brennisteinn (video)
sigur ros sounding a bit industrial in this track from their upcoming album.
gambles : far from your arms (stream)
a spare voice + guitar folk jam for those that are into that sort of thing. it takes a little patience to appreciate, but if you give it time to build and hold out to the end, you can start to hear the cracks and creaks in the singer's voice that make this type of music so affecting in the first place.
deerhunter : monomania (stream)
the title track from deerhunter's forthcoming album, a scuzzy little garage banger a la the black lips, is coming in hot. it's over five minutes long, but be warned: the last three and a half minutes is just bradford cox yelling "mono-monomania" over and over and over again, backed by increasingly cacophonous drums and guitar squeals.
