washed out, along with toro y moi, are probably the only two survivors of the chillwave "movement". and at the start of things, toro y moi was the clear favorite. but the more these two artists release, and the further they get away from that chillwave sound, washed out seems to be creeping ahead. and with this teaser, it seems like washed out might just hold the lead. the kaleidoscopic, malick-esque visuals, the ambient bird chirps, the xylophone/glockenspiel all slowly building until a lush string and choral flourish break and announce a simple late night summer groove. check it out below.
