hamilton leithauser & paul maroon : proud irene (stream)

a dusky little piano number from walkmen frontman hamilton leithauser and walkmen guitarist paul maroon's collaborative non-walkmen effort, dear god.

hamilton leithauser : alexandra (video)

as you may or may not know, one of my favorite bands of all times (the walkmen) recently indicated that they were more or less done making music together, at least under the walkmen moniker. a very sad day for us all, indeed. but on the plus side, walkmen frontman hamilton leithuaser has a solo album coming out this spring, featuring contributions from members of the walkmen, dirty projectors, vampire weekend, fleet foxes and others, which is awesome. "alexandra" is the first song from it, and it is a hell of song. very likely to end up as one of my favorite of the year. watch the video below.

walter martin : sing to me (stream)

walter martin (of the walkmen) and karen o (of the yeah yeah yeahs) duet on this one.

i was out and about in the american southwest this past week, so i probably missed some pretty tastey nugs of music news. one of which is that (brown bear all-time top five bands) the walkmen's lead singer hamilton leithauser is working on a solo album with some pretty big guns. definitely excited about this one.
