an awesomely solid b-side from the bands upcoming fifth lp.

los campesinos! : what death leaves behind (stream)
one of the most consistent bands making music today. up there with the walkmen.

dr. dog : broken heart (lyrics video)
i could never really get into dr. dog aside from their original-surpassing cover of architecture in helsinki's "heart it races". this is the closest they've come to catching the breezy looseness of that version.
moonface : everyone is noah, everyone is the ark (stream)
moonface is the solo moniker of spencer krug, who is the yelpier vocal half of the now defunct band wolf parade (he's also frontman of sunset rubdown, though i'm not sure what that band's status is). his new album, julia with blue jeans on (awesome name, btw), is supposed to be just spencer, vocals and piano, which, judging by this song, is a really good idea.

i was out and about in the american southwest this past week, so i probably missed some pretty tastey nugs of music news. one of which is that (brown bear all-time top five bands) the walkmen's lead singer hamilton leithauser is working on a solo album with some pretty big guns. definitely excited about this one.

glasser : shape (video)
first new track from glasser following (brown bear favorite) debut ring and it's pretty great. a little more trippy but anchored by cameron mesirow's powerful vocals, which seem to have grown stronger in the interim.

the avett brothers : another is waiting (stream)
the carpenter came out just last year, but it looks like they've got a new one due out october. stream the new track here. it's good.
king krule : neptune estate (stream)
another great one from kring krule's forthcoming debut (out august 24). almost could be an old mellow common or kanye beat.

bloc party : montreal (stream)
the strongest of the five tracks on bloc party's nextwave sessions ep, possibly their last album ever. this is bp in slow jam mode (think "real talk", "biko", "signs", "ion square"), which seems to be, song for song, their most successful mode over the last two albums.
sylvan esso : hey mami (stream)
not quite as rousing as "play it right" but still worth a listen. first half is very mountain man-y. second half is very bass drop-y.

ane brun : do you remember (video)
so this song is a few years old, i guess. i had never heard it before, but it is infectious as hell. no idea how this one slipped by me.
mø : pilgrim (stream)
this track is almost a year old, but it's new to me. and it's really good. thoughtful scandinavian pop with an awesome horn section. check it.
bob dylan : pretty saro (stream)
an unreleased track recorded in the 70s from the master. it's absolutely beautiful.
hard to believe that's dylan singing. not sure if i've ever heard him use his voice like this. jim james vibes.

sylvan esso : play it right (stream)
sylvan esso is the new project of mountain man's amelia meath and megafaun's nick sanborn (mountain man's debut is one of my favorite folk albums of all time). but this isn't really folky at all. this is pretty synthy. borderline dancey. but still very good.

new glasser album
glasser released one of my favorite albums in awhile, ring, back in 2010. not much has been heard from her since, but this tweet leads me to believe a new album is imminent. pretty pumped to see what she's got up her sleeve. (side note: delorean and king krule albums are also something to be excited about, especially the latter, but we knew about both of those already)
NYC: if you wanna hear new albums by @DELOREANDANZ #kingkrule and @GLASSER_ way early come to @WytheHotel Thursday: http://t.co/ZmCBg0iGtM

london grammar : feelings (stream)
some pipes on this one. rec'd if you like florence + the machine.
photographer Lassi Rautiainen recently captured the profound partnership between a she-wolf and a brown bear in the wilds of northern finland. for days, he witnessed the strange pair meet every evening to share food after a hard day of hunting. no one knows when or how this relationship was formed, “but it is certain that by now each of them needs the other."
washed out : paracosm (album stream)
stream washed out's new album over at exclaim (better than the itunes stream - individual tracks).
keep shelly in athens : oostende (stream)
another beautiful one from the grecian duo's debut, which is shaping up to be a pretty great record. rec'd if you like washed out.

Thanks to everyone who came and saw @PostalService this spring/summer. It meant the world to us. And with that, we are closed for business.

javelin : light out (stream)
it's not that it necessarily sounds like ra ra riot, but if you like them, you'll probably like this song.
the preatures : is this how you feel? (video)
the song so nice i had to post it twice. seriously, though. check this song out, especially IF YOU LIKE: the sound of feist's voice; the base riff in van morrison's "wild night"; haim and fleetwood mac.
