time is valuable and instant access to music is plentiful. so much hype and bluzz (blog+buz=bluzz) thrown around these days it's hard to know what's worth digging into. best coast might be. stream the song "boyfriend" here (and download if you like what you hear).
rec'd if you like hazy production, summer vibes, female vox, songs about longing.

so this commercial's sorta weak (apple4life!), but i'm feeling the song. it took a little digging, but it's a song called "trace" by a group called explosion robinson and it features melati malay on vox. i haven't been able to find any mp3s or full length versions, but enjoy this 41 second sample.
so s'gum had a premature evaluation up for wavves today. prior to reading it, i had pretty much written off wavves. the outfit seemed to embody all the negative aspects of over-hyping, blog-buzz, and lo-fi. but what i've heard from his third full-length, king of the beach (out this august), has forced me to reconsider. check out some of the new songs over on hype machine. especially the title track.

feels like music that would be playing in the mid/late 90s at a club that only serves zima. but in a good way. although, full disclosure, even if it was in a bad way, i'd still post this. the mysterious group is from greece. gotta represent.

pretty sweet. mine, you ask? salsa rock hip. never realized that everything you need to know about me (i.e. i like salsa, i like rock, and i have a bad hip) is all contained within the letters of my first and last name. i'm sort of like a human da vinci code.
what are y'allz favorite anagrams?
aol caught the band's entire live (and free) show at ny's grand central terminal on tape and will be releasing new videos each week. here's "compliments" and "factory," the latter of which is looking to be one of my favorite songs of 2010. also, worth checking out, is the interview.

i posted on amy poehler's web show about interesting and individualistic young females a long time ago. it's finally back with season 2. and with a new dance party outro featuring will arnett, sean hayes, and most of the cast of parks & rec. incredible. watch the first ep here.

whoa, hammock. where'd you come from? this band is totally new to me, but this just might be the start of a beautiful relationship. recommended if you like ambient but sometimes yearn for a little more oomph.

more arcade fire available for streaming. listen to "ready to start" here and "we used to wait" here. feeling it. the releases are not quite as cathartic as some of their earlier moments, but it's a little premature to make any real predictions. feeling it, nonetheless.

probably more appropriate to say the song is performed by james mercer rather than the shins, seeing how james has pretty much axed all of the other members. either way, grab it here.

i loved ferraby's self-titled ep. thought catch the brass ring was a little flat. same type of songs, but lacking the charm. here's a new one that is just chock-full of whatever it was that was absent on the last go-around. highly recommended.
