this is currently believed to be the first photo of a human being ever. due to the technological limitations of the time, a person would have had to stand still for quite awhile to be captured. the desolate looking street would likely have been bustling with people and carriages, but nobody halted long enough to be saved forever in film, save this man (seemingly getting his shoe shined).

You are wrong in your analysis. this is actually the first picture ever of a PERFORMANCE ARTIST. today, street performers are widely regarded as a cultural cornerstone in urban pedestrian locations. but back then behavior like this was grounds for treason. IF you had your 4 eyes glasses on, you'd see this man is painted completely black. no one does this. clearly he is making a statment of the harsh working conditions in the rising tide of the new industrial era. you slipped this time, dont slip again...
